Chasing a Ghost. [open] Empty

Mist walked across the blossoms gently, the scents made her feel at ease. She lay down beneath the tree, hidden in the shadows so no one could see her. She breathed in and out gently, staring at the blossoms that swirled around her with the cool summer breeze. She tilted her ebony head up to the sky, breathing in the blossoms that passed by her. She sighed gently, no one was around to see her so she felt very free. She no longer had to be bitter towards anyone as no one was near. She glanced out of the corner of her eye and she could swear that she saw her father. She stood up and started to run through the orchid. Each branch connected to another branch from another tree. Her ears pressed against her skull as she ran as quickly as possible. The wind brushed against her fur, pressing her to go faster. She looked out of the corner of her eye and saw her father racing beside her. "Catch me if thou can, Father!" She called out as she pressed her small body forward. The blossoms under her paws stirred up around her body before lightly falling to the ground as she ran. Her black body was just a blur against the pink and white that swirled around her. She looked again to see if the ghost of her father was still with her. He had stopped a bit of the ways back, standing near the biggest tree in the orchid. She started back towards the tree, trying to make sure her father didn't leave her.

As she got closer her father's mist-like image disappeared. "Don't leave me!" She whimpered gently as she came towards the image that was fading. "Please...father..." She sighed gently and stared at the huge tree. She leaned in closer seeing scratches against the bark. It was a name. But she couldn't read it well, as she didn't read the language that humans had written. She stared at it quietly, trying to make it out. She pressed her ebony skull against the tree. She closed her eye's and breathed calmly. What had her father been trying to show her? What were the words embedded into the beautiful tree? She looked down at her white paw, slowly placing it against the tree. She felt as if she needed to know the words upon the tree. She wasn't going to leave until they made some sort of sense. Why would her father bring her to such a place, run with her and then leave her again. A strong breeze swept through, blowing the blossoms away from the tree. On the ground was a place that held a glass bottle. She dug around it a bit revealing what would be blessed water. It was a light pink liquid in the ground. Roots of the tree had grown around it and wouldn't let go of it for her to pull out. Her eye's scanned the area for a way to pull out the glass bottle. It was of no use though, as the bottle had roots clinging to it. She looked back to the words on the tree, trying to figure it out would take hours. She walked away a bit, curling into a ball and falling asleep.

'She was racing through the orchid, but everything was destroyed. The blossoms were ashes, the trees were burnt beyond repair. Her heart was pounding as shadows of the past chased her, taunting her. "You'll never get out of here." "They are coming for you, YOU BETRAYED US." "Sister... Sister How could you turn against me?" "Your worth nothing..." The voices echoed through the broken place, loud and clear chasing after her. She was running as fast as she could, trying to get away. Her body crashed against the ashes, it burned her fur and she tried to get up again. Her heart pounded as she realized she couldn't use her powers, they were gone. As if the powers had been sucked right out of her body and soul. She was weaker as well. Either way she pressed forward. Trying to escape the dark mist that was creeping up on her. She took one step at a time, lost. All she could do was think of the ghost that she had followed into this place, thinking it was her father. Was she ever wrong, it was most likely a demon trying to eat her. She limped gently from the tumble she had taken earlier. She came into the area of where the biggest orchid tree was. The blossoms still clung to the tree. The tree was halfway dead but the words were clear and she was able to read them. They read as: "Only the light can break the darkness that this world holds." Underneath that sentence was: "All spirits who are seen here, guard the place of blessings and beauty." She turned to see the dark mist coming at her. She quickly dug where the glass bottle had been. The water was tainted with a deep obsidian color water. The pink was almost gone, but not quite. "What do I do?" She whimpered as she stared at the liquid that was changing very slowly. She looked over her shoulder to see her father's ghost. "You must find the light within...do not be afraid." His voice was soothing to her, as he told her what she needed to do. "In order for the darkness to not wrap around you, you must find peace and light within your heart." His image was fading again and he spoke quickly once more. "Mist... You are not who you should be, you are more then just a monster. Mist... Of beauty. I lo- His words got cut off as he fully disappeared. "No! No!" She cried out running forward in an attempt to stop the misty image of her father. "Come back! Don't leave me!" Her words got swallowed as a dark mist surrounded her.

She thrashed into being awake, her thoughts swarmed about what had happened. It was almost sunset now, she had slept from the rise of the sun. She licked her lips thirstily, trying not to picture what had happened. "It was all just a dream...a nightmare." She mumbled under her breath, trying to clear her mind of the horror she had felt. She looked back towards the tree, there was a bridge with a river running under it. She walked over to the river and took long refreshing sips from the cool water. She looked around at the blossoms, they were perfectly normal. She walked back over to the tree and put her white paw into the shadows. It disappeared instantly, proving she still had her powers. She shook her head gently and howled, she couldn't stand the horrors she had felt. She wanted to be younger, to be with her father and snuggle closely to the warmth of his body. Her howl was a saddened song of horror and misery. She wished for someone to be with her, to comfort her and tell her the nice things her father had always said. She wanted to see her brother again, she wanted so much and she couldn't have any of it.
